Embezzlement in JAKFED: SVC grants 2 months for audit completion

JAMMU, Feb 7: Considering the status report submitted by the Committee of Auditors, constituted by the Government for conducting audit of accounts of JAKFED, the State Vigilance Commission has asked the audit team to complete the exercise and file final status report within two months to Principal Secretary to the Government Cooperative Department for initiating action against the officials found involved in embezzlement and misappropriation of Government funds.
Earlier, following the complaint lodged by Prof S K Bhalla against the officials of JAKFED alleging therein huge misappropriation of funds by the functionaries of the Federation, the Government constituted a committee of auditors to conduct audit of the imprest accounts of the officials of the JAKFED and finalize factual report for further action.
While adjudicating upon the complaint, the Commission was informed that further an amount of Rs 20.28 lacs has been verified and recommended for adjustment against the imprest advance of serving as well as retired employees of JAKFED, whose accounts are being audited following the complaint of embezzlement and misappropriation. The Commission was also informed that Rs 341.09 lacs stands already examined and adjusted against the total amount of 893.42 lacs while Rs 147.28 lacs are under process of auditing.
Granting two months to the audit team, the Commission directed them to speed up the process and ensure that final status report is submitted to Principal Secretary to the Government Co-operative Department within the fixed dead line.
