JAMMU, Nov 12: In an urgent meeting under the chairmanship of Dinesh Gupta, secretary general Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF) and president Association of Electric Dealers at Narwal, it was urged to immediately roll back on an order of the district administration Doda, mandating production of electricity bill while purchasing electric goods like geysers , heaters etc.
The meeting took strong exception to the said order while requesting the administration to adopt a more pragmatic approach while dealing with issues like under recoveries of electricity charges.
Dinesh Gupta opined that the industry and trade reeling under recessionary pressure while still struggling to emerge out of impact of Covid-19 will be unable to bear the brunt of this order.
“We are all for extending help to administration and our industry as a whole has adopted modern technology thus producing and selling highly energy efficient gadgets, however, this order puts onus of preventing power losses on the trade fraternity and can also reintroduce “Inspector Raj” in an era where ease of doing business is the mantra.
Dinesh, however, welcomed the complete ban on selling of life threatening boilers.
He invited administration for discussion so that pain of the stakeholders can be understood before implementing any such order.
The meeting urged the administration to be sensitive to the needs of genuine traders and also expressed fear that “grey market players” can be the beneficiaries thus making the state loose on tax revenue also.
“Small retailers in such far flung areas would be directly hit economically,” said Gupta while urging administration to keep the order in abeyance.
Prominent among those present were Ajay Gupta, Kanwaljeet Singh, Ravi Gupta, Atul Sharma, Pritam Rometra and others.
