JAMMU, July 19: An elderly woman was today crushed to death by a truck in Arnia area on outskirts of Jammu.
According to a police official, the deceased was identified as Jeeto Devi wife of Gyan Chand, resident of Jinder Melu. He said the mishap occurred this afternoon at Salehar.
“The woman as a pillion was travelling on a bike which got slipped while taking a turn. As a result, the woman fell down and came under the wheel of a truck and died on the spot,” the official said, adding the body of the deceased was shifted to a nearby Government hospital for postmortem.
He said that a case under relevant section was registered at police station Bishnah and investigation started. He further informed that the woman had taken lift on the bike and the biker managed to escape from the spot.
