POONCH, Aug 6:An elderly man was allegedly murdered during a group clash over a land dispute at Ajote village near Gulpur in district Poonch today. The deceased has been identified as 70-year-old Bhajan Singh, son of Bishan Singh, resident of Ajot village. Official sources said that the clash started when Bhajan Singh was cutting a tree in his fields. One Mohd Razak, son of Said Mohd, resident of Gulpur claimed that the land belonged to him and the tree also. Over it, they both had heated arguments followed by bloody clash. The family members of both the sides joined the clash. During clash Bhajan Singh was attacked on his head by some lethal weapon and he sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to District Hospital, Poonch where he was declared as dead. The members of rival group claimed that Bhajan Singh fell down after being pushed by one of the members and sustained injury. The police party led by SHO Poonch, SD Singh arrested the accused person and registered a case in this connection. The body of the deceased was later sent for postmortem. Further investigation was in progress.
