JAMMU, May 20: An old man was killed today in a road mishap here in Parade area of city.
According to a police spokesman, the man identified as Darshan Bajaj (78) son of late Daulat Ram, House No 535, Sector No 3, Karnal Colony (Bohri), sustained serious injuries this afternoon when a scooty number JK02AU-8456 on which he was travelling, was hit by a CRPF vehicle (Swaraj Mazda) bearing registration number HR68-2044 near main gate of Parade Ground.
In a pool of blood, the injured man was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
In this connection, a case FIR No 63/2017 under Section 279/337 was registered at police station Pacca Danga and the accused driver arrested. The CRPF vehicle involved in the mishap was also seized.
