SRINAGAR, June 26: The Employees Joint Action Committee – R (EJAC-R) today urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration to address the long-pending demands of daily-rated workers, ASHA and Anganwadi workers.
A spokesperson said that the demands were raised during a meeting chaired by EJAC-R President Babu Hussain Malik and co-chaired by General Secretary Muzafer Nabi. The session saw participation from several employee leaders and Trade Union representatives.
“Key demands included a comprehensive regularization policy for all categories of daily wagers, immediate implementation of the Minimum Wages Act, and clearance of long-pending financial claims such as GP Fund, Leave Salary, Commutation and Gratuity,” he said.
He said that the committee also sought the release of the 2% House Rent Allowance (HRA) to all eligible employees, correction of pay anomalies in the clerical cadre and online registration of left-out daily wagers, particularly in the PHE and Agriculture Departments. “Daily-rated workers across departments continue to face exploitation and uncertainty. We urge the Government to act without further delay,” said Malik.
The spokesperson said as a next step, the committee resolved to organize a Mega Conference next month in collaboration with TUCC to intensify pressure on the Government and highlight the plight of thousands of temporary and frontline workers. “The leadership warned that failure to address these issues would lead to large-scale mobilization of employees to seek justice,” he said.
He further said the meeting also received support from Muzafer Ahmad Ganei, General Secretary of the Trade Union Coordination Committee (TUCC), who assured full cooperation in future joint initiatives.
