Srinagar, Oct 20: A delegation of daily wage laborers, led by Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam, President of the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), called on Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta today to discuss the pressing issue of regularizing daily wage laborers.
During the meeting, the EJAC highlighted the concern of regularizing daily wage laborers and underscored the urgent need to find a comprehensive solution to this persistent problem, EJAC said in a statement.
Shabnam, the EJAC President, urged Chief Secretary to make a definitive decision on this matter as a goodwill gesture and to swiftly resolve the issue.
He also shed light on the challenges faced by ITI-trained employees within the Jal Shakti department and requested that necessary steps be taken to prioritize their regularization.
In addition, Shabnam urged the Chief Secretary to consider raising the wages for all categories of daily wage laborers and related employees, which would help them cope with the rising cost of living, making it possible to meet their financial needs.
“The meeting also addressed various issues concerning general employees,” EJAC said.
Shabnam emphasized the paramount importance of the administration’s prompt resolution of these issues and problems encountered by the employees.
