EJAC factions, SRTC Union chalk out strategy

JAMMU, Oct 11: Two factions of the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC)  headed by Ram Kumar Sharma and Pardeep Kumar and J&K State Road Transport Corporation Union led by Shakeel Ahmed Kuchey besides heads of nearly 22 employees bodies discussed the strategy for broader unity among the employees and resumption of the agitation in support of pending  demands of the State employees.
The representatives from various employees bodies thoroughly discussed the present scenario of trade union activities, pending demands of the employees and non-responsive attitude of the Government besides the broader unity in the cadre during a special meeting organized here.
It was unanimously resolved to hold one day convention in second week of November in Jammu. The representatives from Kargil and Leh have also given consent to participate in the State level programme. The speakers strongly condemned the attitude of the Government and appealed the employees to remain vigilant from the self styled trade union leaders who are serving the purpose of Government more at the cost of the pending issues of the agitating employees.
They alleged that such leaders have tried to sabotage the general movement.  Members expressed serious concern over the attitude of the Government and alleged that it has backed out from its agreed demands.
They pointed out that Government should address pending demands including release of  Pay Commission arrears, enhancement of retirement age, regularisation of temporary/ ad hoc/ consolidated/ daily rated employees, removal of pay anomalies, benefit of Pay Commission to Corporation workers, enhancement of medical allowance  to Rs 1000 and release of 7% DA. The session also condemned the sharp hike in the prices of LPG, levy sugar and diesel.
Prominent among those who participated included Rafiq Ahmed Khanyari, Shakeel Ahmed Kuchey, Parshotam Sharma, Babu Hussain Malik, P S Chib, Yash Pal Sharma, Markes Gill, Prem Singh Bawa, Devanand Gill, Darshan Magotra, Joginder Singh Manhas, K A Dewani and others.
