JAMMU, Mar 25: Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees Joint Acton Committee has warned agitation if the State Government does consider the genuine demands of Anganwari Workers and Helpers, whose’ ongoing strike has entered into 52nd day.
Warning in this regard was issued during a meeting of EJAC (K), held under the chairmanship of State president EJAC (K), Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, to discuss the problems being faced by the State Government employees.
Seeking attention of Government towards the genuine demands of Anganwari Workers and Helpers, a resolution was moved by S Dharminder Singh Bhargav, which read as: “Rs 3600/= PM to Anganwari Worker and RS 1800/= PM to Anganwari Helper is a cruel joke with them in view of the today’s increased cost of living, It is in sheer violation of International Convention concerning Women rights and exploitation of the labour of this 100 percent Women Work force and a serious case of gender based discrimination. It is also a violation of the fundamental rights and the principles of natural justice and equal pay for equal work. Govt has fixed Rs 225/ as minimum wage even for unskilled temporary workers which is twice as much what is being given to Anganwari Worker and four times the wage of an Anganwari Helper. Hence their demands are genuine and may be acceded to without further delay.” This resolution was unanimously approved by the meet.
Reiterating that the Anganwari Workers And Helpers Union is a constituent unit of EJAC (K), the meet announced active and unconditionally support to the agitating Union.
During the meeting, EJAC also urged the Government to issue the SRO for implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations in favour of the State Govt. employees.
The meeting was attended by S Balvinder Singh, Provincial president; S Dharminder Singh, Provincial general secretary; Ravi Singh Bhau, S Amrik Singh Sasan, S Ravinder Singh; S Narinder Singh and others.
