NEW DELHI : External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today said the government is making all efforts to secure the release of a Kerala priest, believed to be in captivity of terror group Islamic State.
“Father Tom Uzhunnallil – an Indian national from Kerala was abducted by a terror group in Yemen. We are making all efforts to secure his release,” Ms Swaraj tweeted on her official Twitter account.
Father Uzhunnallil was abducted by militants who raided the old age home in city of Aden, Yemen, on March 4. In the gunfire, 16 people, including five nuns from Missionaries of Charity, were killed. One of the nun was from India.
The raid is suspected to have been carried out by Islamic State militants. (AGENCIES)
