JAMMU, Sept 9 : Flagging upgradation of rural infrastructure as priority area, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said exemplary development initiatives have been taken for the purpose and focused attention is being paid to core areas of roads, energy, water supply, health and education.
He said mega-projects have been launched all across the state to develop rural packets on modern lines and to take the development revolution to every nook and corner.
Continuing with the drive to reach out to people and bring administration to the door step, Tara Chand today toured different areas of Khour and addressed series of public rallies at Baddan, Man Chak, Indri, Bakore, Ghari, Gair, Troti and Dhoun Chak, .
Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Akhnoor N S Jamwal, Assistant Commissioner Development K.K. Sidha, Superintendent of Police along with other senior officers and engineers of different departments accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Government is committed to make administration more accountable and PSGA is a landmark initiative for the purpose, adding that time bound delivery of public services would go a long way in ensuring that administration is made people friendly and an accountable delivery mechanism is put in place.
He said various schemes in different sectors have been launched to tackle the problem of unemployment and to ensure that welfare requirements of all sectors of society are addressed.
He said ambitious project for channelizing Chenab waters has been under consideration and DPR for the multi-crore project is being prepared. Once the project gets underway major demands of the people of the area would be addressed, he added.
Calling upon RDD functionaries to ensure that benefits of various rural schemes reach to the beneficiaries in a time bound manner, Mr. Tara Chand said payments under MNREGA should be disbursed in proper way, as the flagship scheme has dual purpose of generating employment and creating assets for the society.
He said fresh survey for identifying beneficiaries under total sanitation programme and IAY should be undertaken so as to ensure that the benefit reaches to the last deserving beneficiary, adding that to ensure genuineness of the claim resolution from local panchayat should be taken for considering the beneficiaries under different schemes.
Responding to the demands of people at Indri, the Deputy Chief Minister directed for exploring feasibility for an Anganwadi centre and construction of boundary wall of middle school under CDF.
He directed the irrigation authorities for commissioning ttubewell at Manchakand de-silting of Kashmir canal on priority basis to ensure that water reaches to the tail end users.
Drawing attention towards SKEWPY, Mr. Tara Chand said youth should take maximum benefit from the scheme and train themselves to be budding entrepreneurs, adding that need of the hour is to look beyond Government sector for employment and develop those skills which have good market potential.
