Educational institutions, other organizations celebrate Teachers Day

JAMMU, Sept 5: Many educational institutions and other organizations here today organized different programmes to celebrate Teachers Day.
SKUAST-Jammu celebrated Teachers Day and organized many programmes to mark the occasion. Prof. Bechan Lal, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University Jammu was the chief guest while Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. J.P Sharma was guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion the chief guest remembered contributions of 4th Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University and 2nd President of India,
Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, on whose birthday, Teachers Day is celebrated across the country. He said that a teacher is guide, who instills confidence in young minds, gives them direction and encourages them to dream high. Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. J.P Sharma said, our teachers are the true pillars of our success.
NSS unit of Government College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu organized online poster making competition to celebrate Teachers Day under the patronage of College Principal, Dr. Sameru Sharma. Through their posters, the participants from different colleges of J&K beautifully presented their ideas on teacher-student relationship.
GGM Science College celebrated Teachers Day under the aegis of College Principal, Dr. Ravinder Tickoo by organizing an online intra-department essay writing competition while NCC Senior Wing Cadets of the College organized greeting card making competition and NSS Unit of the College organized a webinar to sensitize the students to raise awareness about importance of Teacher Day.
Government College for Women Bhagwati Nagar celebrated Teachers Day wherein the students organized different cultural programmes. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College, Prof. Minnie Sharma highlighted the importance of teachers in holistic development of the students and nation building.
NSS Unit of GDC Nagrota celebrated Teachers Day and paid rich tributes to Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, second President of Independent India. The event was chaired by Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, GDC Nagrota Principal while Dr. Iqbal Quasim, Incharge NSS Unit delivered a moral lecture. The students performed different activities as a mark of love and respect for teachers.
Teachers Day was celebrated at GDC Marh with great fervor under the guidance of Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta. A plethora of activities including plantation drive, speech by the Principal, symposium and presentation by teachers marked the celebrations. On this occasion, Newsletter of the College was also released by the Principal.
GDC Akhnoor celebrated Teachers Day under the guidance of Principal Dr. Namarta. The event entitled ‘Portrait of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’ was organized by Prof. Pooja, Coordinator, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. Students participated enthusiastically in the event and expressed gratitude to their teachers.
In order to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, 2nd President of India, the NSS and NCC Units of GDC Khour celebrated Teachers Day. The celebrations began with traditional lightening of the lamp followed by paying tributes to S. Radhakrishnan by Principal, Prof. Hans Raj. An intra-college symposium on ‘The Changing Role of Teachers and Technologies amidst COVID-19 pandemic’ was also organized.
On the occasion of Teachers Day, Department of Physics, GDC R.S Pura organized an online short essay writing competition under the guidance of Dr. (Prof.) G.S Rakwal, College Principal. About 30 students participated in the event. The entire event was organized by Dr. Jaipal Singh, HoD Physics, Dr. Balwinder Kaur and Dr. Chetan Sharma.
GDC Thanna Mandi celebrated Teachers Day and organized an online essay writing competition on ‘Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future’. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Javaid Ahmed Qazi highlighted the achievements of great teacher Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
GDC Ukhral celebrated Teachers Day by organizing an essay writing competition on ‘Life and Works of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan. A large number of students participated in the competition. College Principal, Dr. Ranvijay Singh asked the teachers for inspiring and nurturing the students to move in right direction.
NSS Unit of GDC Kathua celebrated Teachers Day wherein the volunteers distributed sweets and cards extending wishes to their teachers.
Teachers Day was celebrated at GDC Ramkote where lightening of ceremonial lamp was done by Principal of the College, Dr Ashu Vashisht who said that teachers are the ‘beacon of light’ and with their knowledge they can shape the future of their students.
On Teachers Day GDC Dudu Basantgarh organized an inter-college essay writing competition on ‘Role, Value and Importance of Teachers in our Life and Society’. The competition was held under the guidance of GDC Principal, Dr. Bhavnaish Chand.
GDC Udhampur celebrated Teachers Day by organizing multi-lingual essay competition on ‘Teacher as Nation Builders during COVID-19 pandemic’. On this occasion College Principal, Prof. Subhash Chander Sharma threw light on the role of teacher in building society and the nation.
Teachers Day was celebrated by General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi. Principal of the College, Dr. Chander Shekhar spoke on the importance of the day and threw light on the role of teachers in shaping the life of students.
BSF School celebrated Teachers Day with fervor and zeal to honour the teaching fraternity. N.S Jamwal, IG BSF Jammu Frontier was the chief guest on the occasion. DIG BSF, S.K Singh also graced the occasion. A floral tribute was paid to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan. Addressing the gathering N.S Jamwal said: “Teachers decide what the students will become in future as they can infuse in them dignity of labour.”
Mother India Sr. Sec. School, R.S Pura celebrated Teachers Day by paying floral tributes to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan. Sonia Tohra, Principal of the School appreciated all the teachers for their tireless efforts in teaching the students through online mode during the lockdown period due to COVID-19 pandemic. Government Higher Secondary School Chiralla celebrated Teachers Day with enthusiasm. Shamim Ahmad, the acting Principal of the institution graced the function as chief guest and paid rich tributes to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.
At Girls Middle School Neeli, Doda, teachers of different schools under Cluster Gowari participated in Teachers Day function where Salahuddin Mir, ZSO was chief guest.
Teachers Day was celebrated at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Sinoo, Bhallessa under the guidance of Principal, Manoj Kumar.
Government Model Higher Secondary School (Boys) Samba celebrated Teachers Day. Didar Singh, retired Principal was the chief guest and he talked on importance of the day.
IDPS Jammu celebrated Teachers Day and felicitated teachers and other staff members.
On Teachers Day, S.S Sodhi, Chairman J&K Intellectual Civil Society, New Delhi, P.V.C/Director DPS Schools J&K and Educational Consultant said, no nation could be built without the participation of teachers in it. Lauding the role of teachers during COVID-19 pandemic, he said that teachers shape a person into a good human being.
Shri Guru Hargobind Excellence for Sports in collaboration with Society for Sports Bandurakh Kunjwani Jammu celebrated Teachers Day by organizing a Hockey Match and felicitated teachers.
On Teachers Day DC Poonch felicitated 36 best teachers, principals and ZEOs at a function organized in Girls HSS Poonch.
Jammu Kashmir Teachers Joint Action Committee also celebrated Teachers Day and paid tribute to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.
On Teachers Day, BJP OBC Morcha distributed Ayushman Health Card at Jammu West.
On Teachers Day, J&K Innovative Foundation for Transforming Society lead by Dr Tasaduk Hussain Itoo threw light on hard work of teachers across the country. Speaking on the occasion Dr Itoo said, teachers are real oceans of knowledge and enlightenment.
Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan joined Teachers Day celebrations at Kargil as a chief guest. The event was organized by Ladakh-General Line Teachers’ Forum Kargil. CEC Feroz Khan in his address highlighted the services and sacrifices teachers make in shaping future of students.
On Teachers Day, Plus Two Lecturers’ Forum discussed National Education Policy and paid tributes to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan. The Forum congratulated Sanjeev Sharma, a teacher from Reasi for receiving this year’s National Award for Teachers from J&K.
Innerwheel Club Jammu celebrated Teachers Day at Millenium School Gandhi Nagar and honoured Principal and teachers of the School.

At Meditation Center of Brahmakumaris a program on Teachers Day was organized in which Lt. Gen. R.K Sharma, I/C Defence, Security & Border Area Management was chief guest. Sudershan Didi, Incharge of Brahmakumaris J&K/Ladakh said our first teacher is God who teaches us about corporeal body of Brahma Baba.
On Teachers Day, Bicycle for Change Club, Kathua organized a short ride of Kathua town.
