Educational institutions celebrate Independence Day with patriotic fervour

JAMMU, Aug 16: The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal and patriotic fervor by various educational institutions across Jammu region.
The celebrations of the Day at IIM Sirmaur started off with the flag hoisting by Director of the Institute, Prof (Dr) Neelu Rohmetra. The recital of the National Anthem and the sight of the doves taking their course to freedom, after she flew them away, portrayed independence and peace. A lamp lighting ceremony by the Director, faculty, and the students took place which added to the auspiciousness of the occasion. The Director addressed the gathering with an agenda to emphasize the responsibility of everyone towards the society. She said that their intentions to do good or to serve, need only small numbers to push themselves forward into the society. She also urged the students to contribute to the society by applying their knowledge. Later, the event witnessed a plethora of activities including dances, skit, singing and instrumental performance by the students. The atmosphere imbibed patriotism as the gathering concluded the event by singing the National Song and reciting the National Anthem.
At Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, the celebrations began with the unfurling of National Flag by Prof BS Sahay, Director IIM Jammu. The programme was marked by the patriotic poetry recitation and drama performance by the students. The celebration concluded with an enrapturing session of music and poetry in which the Director, faculty, staff and all the students of IIM Jammu took part.
At Central University of Jammu, Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of the University hoisted the National Flag at Rahya Campus. The Vice Chancellor in his address spoke about the spirit of nationalism, integrity, peace and brotherhood. Earlier, Guard of Honour was presented to Vice Chancellor by the Jammu University security guards.
With the flag hoisting ceremony followed up by singing the National Anthem, the 73rd Independence Day was celebrated at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra. Prof Ravindra Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, in his speech emphasized that freedom is never free, but it comes with great responsibilities.
SKUAST-Jammu saluted the Nation and its freedom fighters with patriotic fervor and zeal on the eve of 73rd Independence Day at main Campus Chatha where Dr KS Risam, Vice Chancellor hoisted the Tricolor. A bouquet of cultural extravagance was also presented by the students in the form of speeches or dances.
In Gandhi Memorial College of Education (GMCEJ), the National Flag was hoisted by College Principal, Prof SK Bhat. The ceremony was attended by members of executive body of Hindu Education Society Kashmir. The ceremony concluded with singing of National Anthem.
Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing celebrated Independence Day by organizing a colourful programme and flag hoisting ceremony in the college premises. The students of BSc Nursing, GNM and paramedical courses presented a patriotic cultural programme after the flag hoisting, which was done by Chairman of the college, MS Katoch.
Dogra Group of Colleges viz. Dogra Law College, Dogra College of Education and Dogra Degree College celebrated 73rd Independence Day in Bari Brahmana Campus with patriotic fervour. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust hoisted the National Flag followed by National Anthem in unison by the students and staff members of the Dogra Group of Colleges.
The Day was celebrated in Sant Mela Singh College of Education with patriotic fervor. The Tricolour was unfurled by Chairman of the College, Prof Anmol Singh. The programme started with patriotic songs presented by the students and concluded with distribution of sweets to all.
A flag hoisting ceremony was also organized at Guru Teg Bahadur College of Education. The ceremony was performed by Chairman of the College in the presence of Principal, staff and students of the college.
The Chenab College of Education, Jammu celebrated 73rd Independence Day with patriotic fervor. The program commenced with the hoisting of Tricolor by Principal Dr Inderjeet Kour, followed by National Anthem. Students presented speeches and recited poems based on the theme of patriotism.
The celebrations were also held at Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk, Jammu. Arun Bangotra, Principal of the College, unfurled the National Flag and threw light on the significance of Independence Day.
Standard Institute of Education, Rown Dhar Road, Udhampur celebrated Independence Day with full fervor. Chan Singh, Principal of the School, hoisted the National Flag in school assembly ground. On the occasion, a beautiful cultural programme was presented by the students.
Independence Day was celebrated at PTTI Vijaypur with great enthusiasm. Ashok Kumar Sharma, SSP (Principal) PTTI Vijaypur hoisted the National Flag. Retired police personnel also participated in the function during which contingents of police personnel held march past. A colourful cultural programme was also presented by children of various Government schools and staff of PTTI Vijaypur.
In SPS PTS Kathua, the Tricolour was hoisted by Arun Gupta, SSP (Principal) of SPS PTS Kathua. The officers of IRP, CRPF and CISF also attended the function. To mark the occasion, pipping ceremony was also held to decorate newly promoted officials.
Stephens Institute of Paramedical Sciences celebrated Independence Day with great fervor by unfurling the National Flag. All the faculty members, students and Principal Muni Dhar were present on the occasion. Ritu Gupta (Assistant Prof) recited a poem to pay tribute to defence martyrs and freedom fighters
Delhi Public School Nagbani, Jammu (West) celebrated the occasion with great fervour. The celebration began with the unfurling of Tricolour by the Principal RK Verma. The program commenced with the speech on Independence Day which was followed by a patriotic song presented by the teachers.
G D Goenka Public School, Jammu celebrated Independence Day with great zeal. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrate the spirit of unity in diversity. The school echoed with poetic fervor as the children danced on the beats of patriotic music and drew scenes of Independence. The event culminated with singing of National Anthem.
A grand function was organized by Swami Vishwatamanand Sarswati Education Complex, Shiv Kashi, Sunderbani to mark the occasion. The Tricolour was unfurled by Administrator, KL Khajuria along with five principals of the complex in front of SVS auditorium. March past was also held by the students.
The Day was also celebrated at SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Jammu. The programme started with the Flag hoisting by Principal RK Dhar along with staff members. Patriotic performances in the form of speeches, dances, skits and songs added colors to the celebration. The program ended with a motivational speech by Principal RK Dhar.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua celebrated Independence Day with gaiety and fervor. The ceremony began with hoisting of the National Flag by Prinicpal Mili R Sumbria. It was followed by singing of the patriotic song by the students of class 8th along with cultural programs like dance performances giving a tribute to the nation.
Shiksha Niketan Gandhi Nagar celebrated the Day with patriotic fervor. Principal of the school hoisted the National Flag. National Anthem was sung by all the members present there. Special guest Nirmal Sharma (Main Incharge, Shiksha Niketan School, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu) addressed the gathering.
The flag hoisting ceremony was also held at Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu. Rameshwar Mengi, Principal of the school, addressed the students. The school also participated in march past held in Mini Stadium Parade Ground.
The celebrations of Independence Day also held at Vishwa Bharti Senior Secondary School, Akalpur Morh, Jammu. All the faculty members of Vishwa Bharti School and Vishwa Bharti College of Education were present on the occasion. SK Koul, secretary of VBS, hoisted the Tricolour along with School Principal, Anapurna Kaul.
New Light Higher Secondary School, Patoli Mangotrian, Jammu celebrated Independence Day and the students presented colourful programme.
Raina Higher Secondary Schools at Chak Seri, Bhalwal and Paloura celebrated the Day with fervor and gaiety and the National Flags were hoisted at both these schools.
District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Kud Udhampur celebrated Independence Day with patriotic spirit. Principal DIET, P D Sharma unfurled the National Flag.
Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Purkhoo (Camp), Jammu celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm and fervour. Students presented a variety of cultural items on the occasion. Principal Ramesh Kumar Hakim hoisted the National Flag and spoke on the significance of the day.
The students and staff of Government Girls Model HSS Mubarak Mandi celebrated the Day with zeal in its premises. Principal Anita Zutshi hoisted the National Flag. In her address, the Principal asked the students to be ready to shoulder the future responsibility of the Nation with sincerity and dedication.
GHSS (Camp) Bohri, Jammu celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour in its premises. Students presented a variety of cultural items and spoke on the importance of the day. Principal Bal Ji Thaploo hoisted the National Flag, while another Administrative Officer, Ramesh Kumar Tickoo presented vote of thanks.
Government Hari Singh Higher Secondary School celebrated 73rd Independence Day with fervor and gaiety wherein the Principal Vijay Chanyal unfurled the National Flag and highlighted the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
GHSS Basantgarh celebrated the Day with flag hosting by SDM Basantgarh, Dr Andreas Peter. Saraswati Vandana was presented by the students. It was followed by debate, dances, poem recitation, skit, etc. Many students expressed their views on Independence Day.
In GHSS Gundla (Jammu), the National Flag was hoisted jointly by Principal Jia Lal Rakwal and Sarpanch Ghulam Mustafa. It was followed by National Anthem. Staff, VEC members and other prominent persons of the locality also attended the function.
GHSS Chanunta, Udhampur celebrated the Day with the active participation of adjoining schools under the supervision of Chanchal Devi, Principal. Mohan Singh, Sarpanch Chanunta hoisted the Tri-colour and took salute of march-past. Middle School Tabber, Girls Middle School Chanunta, Dr Ambedakar Convent and National Academy Chanunta participated.
Government Girls Higher Secondary School Arnia celebrated 73rd Independence Day with fervor and gaiety. Tehsildar Arnia, Majid Chowdhary unfurled the National Flag.
The flag hoisting was performed at GHSS Chack Kahana, Kathua by Principal, Pawan Kumar Sharma, who in his address, stressed the students to be like soldiers in their lives to sustain Independence. Students presented a patriotic show on the occasion.
GHSS (Boys) Gandhi Nagar, Jammu celebrated the occasion with great enthusiasm. Vice-Principal, Indu Bala unfurled the National Flag. National Anthem was sung by the students and staff members.
SDM, Chand Kishore Sharma hoisted National Flag at Government Higher Secondary School Chowki Choura during Independence Day celebrations.
Government Girls Higher Secondary School Bakshi Nagar celebrated Independence Day and the Principal Sudershan Kumari unfurled the National Flag.
The Independence Day celebrations were also held in Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bazaar Qasaban, Jammu Principal of the institution Satinder Kaur hoisted the National Flag in the premises of the institution in presence of students and all the staff members.
The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with pomp and show in GHSS Thial. Principal Vijay Kumar Sharma unfurled the National Flag. A colourful cultural programme was presented by the students. They also delivered thought provoking speeches on Independence Day.
The Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in GHSS Mandal Phallian. Ramesh Kumar Bakshi, Tehsildar Mandal unfurled the Tricolor in presence of School Principal JR Sharma. It was followed by chanting of National Anthem and salutation of the flag by hundreds of student. A colourful program was presented by the students.
Independence Day was celebrated in Government Model HSS Sunjwan where Principal Sultana Koser unfurled the National Flag. Corporater of Ward No 72, Sobit Ali was guest of honour. Students performed a very charming and mesmerizing dance performance.
GHSS Paloura celebrated the occasion with patriotic fervor. Principal Sunita Chadha hoisted the National Flag. It was followed by chanting of National Anthem by the students and staff members.
To mark the occasion, a flag hoisting ceremony was organized at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Muthi (Jammu), where Principal Manmeet Kour unfurled the Tricolour. She was given guard of honour by NCC cadets of the school. Some cultural activities were also presented by the students.
The Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Government Boys HSS Sunderbani. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Vinod Kumar Behnal unfurled the Tricolour. A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students.
At GHSS Jhajjar Kotli, the flag hoisting was done by Principal Dr Sulekha Batra along with Sarpanch Reena Thapa. All staff members of the school and civil society members were present on the occasion.
At GHSS Dablehar (RS Pura), the celebrations started with flag hoisting by Principal Deepak Gupta who took salute of the march past. Students presented a colourful cultural programme highlighting the importance of the Day.
In Government Basic Model HSS Purani Mandi, Jammu, a cultural programme was organized to celebrate the occasion. Earlier, Principal Sikander Lal unfurled the Tricolour and addressed the students.
Government Girls Model HSS, Kandoli Nagrota, celebrated the Day with enthusiasm. Tehsildar Nagrota Ram Pal Sharma hoisted the National Flag in the presence of other heads of the departments of the Tehsil. Guard of honour was presented by J&K police, CISF and CRPF personnel.
The Independence Day was celebrated at GHSS Gundla with fervor. The Tricolour was unfurled there by Ghulam Mustafa, Sarpanch, Panchayat Halqa Bamyal in the presence of Principal and other staff members of the school.
Government Mixed HSS Purkhoo (Camp) celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm. The National Flag was unfurled by Principal RK Hakim, who in his address explained in brief the importance of the Independence Day.
To mark the occasion, an impressive function was organized at GHSS Keya (Ramnagar). Principal Tarsem Singh Mahotra hoisted the Tricolour. Two squads, one each of girls and boys presented guard of honour to the Principal. A cultural programme was presented by the students.
Independence Day was celebrated at Army Public School Akhnoor with great zeal and gaiety. The National Flag was hoisted by Colonel Rohit Menon along with Major Jaskaran, Principal KCS Mehta and Vice Principal Rakesh Chander. Patriotic songs were presented by the students.
Army Public School (APS) Damana celebrated the Day with patriotic fervor. The National Flag was hoisted with a great sense of patriotism and pride in the school premises by the Principal along with staff, students and army personnel.
The Independence Day was also celebrated in various schools of Udhampur district viz. Rural Model Diamond Public School, Barta Ritti Udhampur, Pilot Academy High School, Battal Balian, Dream Land Public High School, JK Public Higher Secondary School Omara, Sanmati Vimal Jain Academy, New Modern Academy Chak Rakwala, Dream Land Public School, Sial Jattan, Government High School Ladana, where Tricolour was unfurled by respective Principals.
Kamal Public High School, Nandpur Samba celebrated Independence Day with BSF Jawans at International Border. BSF Assistant Commandant, Babu Ram enlightened the students on the importance of the Day.
Guru Harkrishan Public School, Nanak Nagar celebrated the Day with Principal, Rita Popli unfurling the National Flag. Staff and students of the school recited the National Anthem.
The Independence Day was also celebrated in Government Girls High School, Rajpura Mangotrian. All the staff members and students participated in the celebrations. The Tricolour was hoisted by Headmaster Renu Manhas. It was followed by recitation of National Anthem and a colourful cultural programme.
In Government Girls High School Salehar, the flag hoisting was done by Headmaster Naresh Kumar Baru in the presence of prominent civil society members.
Government High School (GHS) Dhanna Chhapri, Chowki Choura Zone celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm wherein the Headmaster, Rajinder Padha hoisted the National Flag in the presence of Sarpanch Harbans Lal.
In GHS Old Satwari, Balvinder Singh, Sarpanch and Headmaster Anita Sharma hoisted the National Flag in the presence of staff members and students of the school.
GHS Aithem, Gandhi Nagar Zone celebrated Independence Day with fervor. Headmaster, Sarita Gupta along with Sarpanch, Shoba Devi hoisted the National Flag.
The flag hoisting was also organized to mark the occasion at Government High School, Sarote in Bhalwal.
The National Flag was also unfurled at GHS Chowadi by Headmaster, Kamlesh Kumari.
GHS Khanna Chhargal celebrated the occasion with great enthusiasm. The Tricolor was unfurled by the Principal and this was followed by cultural programmes.
Government Middle School (GMS) Barnai celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm. Anita Sharma, Corporator, Ward No 65 hoisted the National flag in the presence of Headmaster Kuldeep Singh.
Government Boys Middle School Janipur celebrated Independence Day wherein the National Flag was hoisted by Neelam Parihar, VEC Chairman along with others.
GMS Moori, Reasi also celebrated the Day wherein students and staff of Government Primary School Bassan and Middle School Kandiyar also participated.
Jiger Institute, Gangyal (Jammu) celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm. The program started with a welcome song presented by Bharti Mehra along with students. Thereafter, a colourful cultural programme was presented by the students.
Government Higher Secondary School Bhour Camp, Jammu celebrated 73rd Independence Day with fervour and gaiety. Principal of the School, Anjali Gupta unfurled the National Flag and addressed the students on importance of the day.
