JAMMU, Oct 21: Dussehra–one of the most important Hindu festivals was celebrated by various educational institutions here today.
To mark the victory of good over evil, Dussehra was celebrated at Delhi Public School, Udhampur. Various cultural programmes were organized on the occasion. In order to tell the significance of Dussehra, ‘Ramleela’ was performed by the students. The effigy of Ravana was burnt, followed by display of fireworks. On the occasion, the chief guest was Rakesh Jamwal, Chief Planning Officer, whileas Chairman of the school Dr JC Gupta, Principal Yogeshwari Rathore and Vice Principal Sucheta Gupta were also present.
JK Montessorie Senior Secondary School and its affiliated unit JK Little Millennium International School celebrated Dussehra. The programme started with a special assembly, followed by bhajan sandhya and Ramleela by the students. The students were given black and white colouring sheets to colour them as per their choice so as to check their imagination skills. Managing Director of the school Sanjeev Gupta, Director Academics Rajni Gupta and Vice Principal Geeta Dixit were also present on the occasion.
Jammu Sanskriti School celebrated Dussehra. A special assembly was organized on the occasion which started with Qawali presentation by class VI to VIII. Rohini Anand and Shifaly spoke about the importance of Dusshera festival. Girls of class IV to VIII presented Giddha, followed by a jhanki, which was taken out by preprimary students depicting the mythological characters of Little Ram, Lakshman and Sitaji with Nanha Hanuman. The programme ended with Ravana Dahan. Principal-cum-Vice Chairperson Rohini Aima, Prabhjot Kour, Senior Wing Co-ordinator, Varuna Mangotra, primary wing coordinator, Nidhi Kohli, CCA Co-ordinator and Trishna Sharma, Assembly Incharge were also present on the occasion.
RM Public School celebrated Dussehra. The function commenced with Kanjak Pujan by Trustee Rita Mengi and Principal of the school Ravinder Kour. Primary wing co-ordinator Meenakshi Pathania presented the welcome address. Students presented number of dance items and songs. The main attraction of the function was skit prepared under the supervision of Ajay and Sachin. The whole event was organised by Pre-Primary Co-ordinator Pooja Padwal. The function concluded with burning of effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkarna and Meghnath prepared by art and craft teachers Radhika and Beenu.
Humanity Public School, Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana organised a colourful fest to celebrate Dussehra. On the occasion, students performed a skit on Dussehra. The characters of legends like Ravan and Hanuman played their roles beautifully and won the hearts of one and all. Beautiful songs sung by the students on the occasion left the audience spellbound. Little blossom kids presented fancy dress competition. Earlier, a special assembly was conducted, during which students threw light on the importance of Dussehra. Principal of the institution Gaurav Charak was also present on the occasion.
Stephens International Public School celebrated Dussehra. Enactment of the scenes remarking the victory of Rama over Ravana was staged by the students. The effigy of Ravana was also set on fire. Director Satvinder Saini, Principal Shibu Mathew K and Amarjeet Singh, Vice Chairman were also present on the occasion and asked the students to follow the path of truth, honesty and discipline in their life.
Dewan Devi Play Way and Higher Secondary School celebrated Dussehra. The children of the Play Way Wing dressed up beautifully as Lord Rama, Sita Lakshman and Hanuman participated in the burning of the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnath. Chairman of the school informed the children about the cultural significance of this festival.
Rich Harvest School, Shastri Nagar celebrated Dussehra festival. Students performed the role of Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman. The effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnath were also burnt on the occasion. Uma Katal, MD and Rasvinder Kour, Principal apprised the students about the importance of the festival.
Dussehra was celebrated at Kids Zee, Roop Nagar Enclave. On the occasion, the kids set on fire the effigy of Ravana, which was filled with fire-crackers. Children participated in the programme with religious spirit and enthusiasm.
Kids Campus, an International Pre School, Channi Himmat celebrated Dussehra. On the occasion, the kids dressed as Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman celebrated the festival with great enthusiasm. Teachers of the school explained the kids about the importance of the festival. Later, kids set on fire the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnath. The activity of preparing Ravana’s Mask was also undertaken on the occasion.
