Sir,
This is in reference to the news item” Education system failed to achieve objective, need reform: SC” D.E. dated July,5. The remarks delivered by the Supreme Court give us the true picture of the present education system in India. The prevailing education system is lacking the moral education without which a person does not deserve to be called as an educated one. The present education system only teaches us how to get more marks in the examination and to be able to get a good job which can bring more money for us. A poor can remain devoid of education while a rich person can purchase any degree of his choice in the present system. The true purpose of education is to serve the society and ultimately the country. But the man educated in the present system is limited to its family only and that too the nuclear family. He is even not prepared to serve his parents not to speak of the society or country. The present system has also failed to induce patriotism in the minds of youngsters. The country has suffered much damage by its educated persons than the illiterate ones. Corruption, smuggling and militancy which are responsible for weakening the country and killing its own innocent people are being carried out by the so called educated persons. An educated man should know what is right and what is wrong. No doubt the literacy rate has increased to much extent after independence, the problems of the country like regionalism, casteism, corruption and militancy have also increased which are indicators of our present day faulty education system. When we cannot help an accident victim on the road who is in much pain and struggling for his life then what is the utility of our education. When we damage the national property in the name of protests then our education has no meaning. The education system should be reformed in such a way that we can produce patriots, honest persons with human values and responsible towards society and also research scholars who can take the country to its heights.
Yours etc….
