This has reference to the article “Revamping Education System” DE, April 12, 2017. The author has rightly pointed out the problems that the education system is facing especially in J&K. Now it seems that we have forgetten the real meaning of education. For people education is maximum marks fetching phenomenon. Not only people but govt. is also equally responsible for the present mess in education. ‘No detention policy’ announced by education department is a major hurdle.No student can be failed upto 9th class. When they appear in 10th class board exam, not only students but teacher also fail. What can a teacher do in such a situation? Same situation follows in Private sector. Private schools never fail any student upto 9th class which is very detrimental to our student community in particular and our society in general. Nelson Mendela has once said that ”
Education is most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. But this weapon is becoming weak day by day as we are not able to change the world. It is to think here- are we really educating our people? or are we dumping them into a dark and deep pit ?
