JAMMU, June 24: All J&K Electric Department Linemen and Workers Union (EDLWU) has urged the Executive Engineer and Assistant Executive Engineer, M&RE Division and Sub Division Kathua to conduct an enquiry into the death of Dharam Singh, a lineman, while repairing the transformer at Hatli Morh on June 23.
The issue came up for discussion during a meeting of the union held here today under the presidentship of Tara Chand Lakhotra. The union stressed upon the higher authorities to conduct inquiry into the death of the lineman and punish the accused who had switched on the HT line while the lineman was working on the transformer.
The union also demanded the Government to pay a compensation of about Rs 15 lakh to the kin of the deceased and also Government job to one of the family members, as the deceased was the only earning hand in the family.
The speakers also stressed upon the Chief Engineer M&RE Circle Jammu to pay an amount of Rs 3 lakh from the Welfare Fund to the family members of the deceased within a period of 10 days.
