JAMMU, Mar 3: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched a National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication (NERPA) programme from March 3 to August 15, 2015.
The aim and objective of the programme is to facilitate the electors. During the period, the elector can get his/her name and other particulars corrected by filling the requisite forms. The voters have been urged to voluntarily disclose the multiple entries of their names in the electoral rolls to the BLO/ERO concerned for deletion by filling the requisite form as multiple entries of name at more than one place is an offence punishable under relevant Act.
The electors can also link their Aadhaar numbers with the EPICs through SMS to 51969 by using the prescribed format namely, CILINK space <EPIC _Number >space <Aadhaar _Number>. Besides quality of elector’s image in the Photo Electoral Roll wherever requested can also be improved. The elector can also submit his/her mobile number and e-mail address to ERO to get services like issuance of voter slips or other election related information.
In order to chalk out an implementation plan in Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Umang Narula today interacted with all the District Election Officers and Electoral Registration Officers through video conferencing.
He called upon the concerned to launch a massive awareness campaign throughout the State to educate the electors about NERPAP so that the electors can avail the services during the designated period. The CEO discussed the details of the programme with the concerned and fixed the schedule for timely completion of exercise.
