JAMMU, Mar 9: Electric Contractors Association (ECA), Bijbehara (Anantnag) has appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene personally and clear the work done liabilities of electric contractors, who were engaged in execution of electric works during Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2012 and 2013.
The president of the Association, Bashir Ahmed Wani, condemned the authorities concerned for harassing the electric contractors by not clearing their work done liabilities for the year 2012 and 2013, which amounts to a total of 42. 35 lakh.
He alleged that after the successful completion of Amarnath Yatra 2012, the Government has cleared only 25% of their total liabilities amounting to 11.40 lakh and promised them to clear the balance amount before the advent of Yatra 2013 but it did not keep its words and engaged them again in Yatra 2013 with the similar promise.
For last two years, we have been running from pillar to post to get clear our liabilities but get nothing, he said, adding we gave many representations to higher officials of the concerned department including Executive Engineer, EM&RE Division, Bijbehara, Chief Engineer, EM&RE Wing, Kashmir and Financial Advisor and CAO, Power Development Department, but get nothing from them on the excuse that they have no funds.
Now we have no other option except appealing to the Chief Minister of the State to intervene personally into the matter and do justice with aggrieved contractors by issuing orders to the concerned department to clear their work done liabilities.
