EC seizes NC’s sewing machines

SHOPIAN, Apr 9: Flying squad of the Election Commission (EC) has seized atleast 20 sewing machines from a National Conference Sarpanch’s house in Burihalan village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Sources said the machines were to be distributed among people to lure them to vote for the NC candidate in the upcoming Parliamentary elections.
The machines were seized after a complaint was registered at Election Office, Shopian.
Deputy Commissioner, Shopian Bashir Ahmad Bhat said they received a complaint that some persons were distributing sewing machines among villagers.
“In view of the Model Code of Conduct, the administration has seized all the 20 machines and started investigation on who was behind funding the machines,” Bhat, who is also the Election Officer, said.
