Nearly 4.74 crore rupees gone down the drain and the much hyped Industrial Estates in identified four villages in four districts remain non-functional. The main reason is bad planning, to be exact no planning. The purpose of Industrial Estates was to promote the culture of industrialization of backward areas and pockets so that people will get employment and promote. Bad planning, lack of serious interest, absence of boosters and lackadaisical attitude of authorities all have combined to turn the entire exercise into a fiasco of sorts. Not to speak of making prosperous enterprise, even the land identified for the proposed Industrial Estates has not been transferred to the organization as yet owing to non-responsive attitude of the Revenue Department. How then can we expect that our Sate will take some positive strides towards industrialization when this is the sordid condition of planning? Sordid state of affairs of these four Industrial Estates gives a message that profitable expansion of industries in the State is a distant dream. Unless the Government takes drastic steps to expedite inception of industrial estates, we will be only dreaming of things that may never happen.
