JAMMU, Sept 10: Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh today visited Jagti township to take stock of grievances and problems of Kashmiri Pandits.
Advisor to Chief Minister Prof. Amitabh Mattoo and MLC Surinder Ambardar were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister said that present coalition Government would take all measures to make living conditions in the township more palatable for the migrant families. He said all of us want that Kashmiri migrants should return with honour to their homes and hearths in the Valley.
He also named Jagti Park as Shaheed Tika Lal Taploo Park.
While listening to the problems of Kashmiri Pandits, Deputy Chief Minister directed the PDD authorities to ensure uninterrupted power supply and assured the Pandits for up-gradation of Sports Stadium and park at the Jagti Township.
He informed that very soon recruitment in Police Department would be advertised and appealed the community youths to massively part in the same. He assured the Kashmiri migrants for ensuring timely supply of ration in the Jagti township.
Responding to the demands related to transportation and repair of approach road to Nagrota, Dr. Nirmal Singh assured that the matter would be taken at appropriate level and demands would be redressed in a time bound manner. He further assured for proper functioning of hospital in the township. He directed Deputy Commissioner to ensure immediate repair of un-functional ambulance lying in the hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, Amitabh Mattoo said that Government is serious for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in the Kashmir valley with security and honour.
Kashmir Pandits apprised the Deputy Chief Minister about their problems and grievances and presented a charter of demands which inter alia included, return and rehabilitation and settlement at one place in Kashmir valley, speed up recruitment in Special Employment package for Kashmiri migrants, political empowerment of Kashmiri Pandit Minority Community, Special economic package for over aged unemployed Kashmiri Pandit youths, economic package for traders, up gradation of schools in migrant camps, removal of encroachments of migrants immovable property, scarcity of portable water, uninterrupted power supply, up gradation of approach road to Nagrota, timely supply of ration, shortage of staff in Government Schools of Jagti, Ward/ Panchayat type Election in Jagti township, and various other demands.
On the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister and VC Central University of Jammu adopted one school each for up gradation on modern lines.
