JAMMU, Dec 26: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today chaired a high level meeting to review the arrangements for Republic Day celebrations at PWD guest house.
Director General Youth Services and Sports Naveen Aggarwal, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Shantmanu, Additional DG, Security V.K. Singh, Principal Secretary to the Governor Navin Kumar Choudhary, Secretary, School Education Hirdesh Kumar, Commissioner/ Secretary, Health & Medical Education Gazzanfar Hussain, Heads of Departments and senior officers from civil and police administration attended the meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held for safe and smooth conduct of Republic Day celebrations, including security and other important matters.
Calling for massive participation by all, the Deputy Chief Minister said the historic day should be celebrated with full patriotic zeal and enthusiasm, adding that the day marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of independent India and it is moral responsibility of all people to participate in large numbers.
He directed for coordinated efforts by all the concerned departments to make the show a grand success.
Tara Chand asked the Divisional Commissioner to monitor the arrangements on routine basis to ensure that all required arrangements are put in place well in time. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure proper and timely arrangement of all basic amenities especially sanitation, cleanliness, healthcare, fire and emergency, drinking water and power supply.
He directed the authorities to make traffic route plans in such a manner that participating children are deboarded nearest to the venue.
A committee to be headed by DG, YS&S was constituted to monitor the cultural, parade and other participations for the celebrations.
Detailed deliberations were done on all the agenda points which mainly include, composition of  parade contingents, cultural programmes, illumination of Government buildings, transport arrangements, seating arrangements, lighting arrangements, repair and renovation works of the stadium, traffic and barricading.
