JAMMU, Apr 20: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said that it is imperative to honour our heroes  especially the martyrs who have laid down their lives for safeguarding the nation as it imbibes  a sense of patriotism and linkage  to ones country.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized by  Martyr Captain  Tushar Mahajan Memorial trust on eve of the Birth Anniversary of Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan to honour the families of martyrs at Udhampur today.
MLA, Udhampur, Pawan Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Niraj Kumar, SSP, Udhampur, Shailendra Mishra, Param Veer Chakra Awardee, Subedar Yogendra Yadav , families of martyrs and other senior officers.
Dr Singh said that it is very essential that we should be regularly  honouring  our martyrs who have without caring for their precious lives rendered the ultimate sacrifice for the cause of the nation. He said that patriotism and love towards ones country is the most sacred feeling and now the onus lies on us to ensure that it is properly   propagated among the younger generation and the posterity.
While asking for holding these types of functions on a regular basis, Deputy Chief Minister said that these types of functions are necessary to create awareness among the people. He said that the people should also come forward   and also honor the martyrs by actively interacting with the families of these and also take necessary steps for their rehabilitation in the different spheres of life.
Dr Singh while paying tributes to Martyr Captain Tushar said that the sacrifice rendered by the young soldiers   would be recorded in the annals of history as commendable. He said that the son of Jammu has set an example for the youth to hold the interest of country as supreme and contribute their bit in making India as one of the leading countries of the globe.
Later, Deputy Chief Minister also honoured 13 martyr families on the occasion.
