JAMMU, May 18: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and briefed him on political and security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where the Valley has been going through another turbulent phase while Jammu was facing intense Pakistan shelling on the Line of Control (LoC).
In a meeting with the Prime Minister, Dr Singh briefed him on situation prevailing along frontiers with Pakistan, militancy in Kashmir and law and order situation in view of almost regular protest by the youths including the students.
Sources said Modi and Dr Nirmal Singh discussed upcoming annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji in South Kashmir Himalayas, which will start on June 29 and conclude on August 7, which is being taken by the Government as a challenge this year in view of trouble in South Kashmir.
“Working of PDP-BJP coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir also came up for review during the meeting Dr Nirmal Singh had with Narendra Modi,” sources said.
