DY CM reviews Ramadan arrangements

SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh, today directed the officers to work in close coordination to ensure that the people do not face any inconvenience vis-à-vis the essentials during the month of Ramadan.

The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing the officers during a review cum video conferencing to discuss the arrangements being put in place for the smooth conduct of Ramadan in the State.

Commissioner Secretary Housing & Urban Development Hridesh Singh, Commissioner Secretary PDD Dheeraj Gupta, Directors Urban Local Bodies Jammu, Srinagar, Development Commissioner Power, Chief Engineers of PDD, PHE Jammu/Kashmir, Commissioner SMC and other concerned attended the meeting.

The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers to synergize their efforts to ensure smooth conduct of Ramadan in the State so that the people do not face any problems. He said that the fool proof mechanism should be put in place to provide better amenities to the people during the month of Ramadan.

Dr. Singh directed the Directors of ULBs to ensure proper cleanliness, sanitation and other related facilities in various towns and Municipalities of the State especially in and around mosques and shrines. He said special squads should be constituted for the same.

While asking the officers of the PDD to provide adequate supply of electric power during the holy month, the Deputy Chief Minister said that special care should be taken to ensure that electric power is provided to the people especially during sehri and iftaar times. He said that they should properly rationalize the power supply so that the load shedding can be effectively minimized during the month.

Dr. Singh said that the officers should ensure that the damaged transformers of the summer zone should be repaired at the earliest so that the consumers do not face any inconvenience.

Directing the PHE officers to provide adequate supply of potable drinking water to the people, he said that the people should not suffer on account of lesser availability of water and they should try to augment the water shortage by deploying water tankers to the areas who are facing acute shortage of water.

The Deputy Chief Minister directed the Commissioners of the twin municipal corporations of Jammu and Srinagar to undertake a massive cleanliness and sanitation drives in the capital cities, especially around the religious places. He said that they should also constitute market checking squads to keep a check on profiteering, hoarding, and black marketing.
