
Speakers highlight institution’s journey since 1951

JAMMU, Apr 20: Vishwa Bharati Women’s Welfare Institute celebrated its Platinum Jubilee at its Akhalpur campus here. In this connection a two days function was held which started yesterday with a Maha Yagya and culminated today.
Chief Secretary, J&K Atal Dulloo was the chief guest on concluding function today. Besides, joining the other distinguished guests in offering prayers he also released a poster on the occasion.
The Chief Secretary, while highly eulogising the role of Vishwa Bharati said its founders and management deserve all credit for achieving a great milestone taking this institute to touch heights. They set an example for others to follow by setting up institutions of excellence not only in Jammu but other parts of country as well. He wished them a great success in their future endeavours also.
Speaking on the occasion, president of the Institution, Dr Surinder Krishen Koul expressed gratitude to the generation of students, teaching and non teaching faculties and parents who have been the part of the institution’s commitment of excellence, inclusivity and compassion while reaffirming its mission to empower youth to built a strong and more enlightened Bharat.
Prof A N Sadhoo, Chairman Academics threw light on the long journey of Vishwa Bharati. He said established in 1951 in Rainawari Srinagar of Kashmir Valley the Vishwa Bharati achieved a great milestone in the field of education since then and has turned into one of the premier institutes of education over the years.
He said the credit goes to management and staff who worked tirelessly over the years especially during the mass exodus to maintain the credibility of this institute as an institution of excellence.
As the institution completes its 75 years of existence, the yearlong celebrations are being held in all the units of the Institution. The function started with Hawan yesterday and culminated with Puranahuti this afternoon followed by serving of prashad.
The function besides the members of Management Committee including Yoginder Koul, retd IGP, V K Dembi, Sameer Bhat, vice principal, , Dr R K Saproo and B L Saraf, members of Management Committee, former VC Central University, Prof Ashok AIma, former Chief Vigilance Commissioner, Kuldeep Khoda, former DGP, Ashok Bhan, president HESK, Prof B L Zuthsi, Dr R K Chrungoo, Kuldeep Raina, Behari Kak, M K Bangroo was attended by a galaxy of members of KP community.
