JAMMU, July 30: Strongly criticizing the School Education Department for not introducing Dogri language in the newly upgraded Higher Secondary Schools, Duggar Manch Jammu has alleged a deep rooted conspiracy against mother tongue of the Dogras.
Even as Dogri is major language of J&K State and has already been included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution, the School Education Department ignored these fact and did not introduce Dogri language as subject in the newly upgrade Higher Secondary Schools for the reasons best known to the Commissioner Secretary School Education, said a spokesperson of the Duggar Manch Jammu, in a statement, issued here today.
While pointing out that students and scholars were already protesting against not introducing Dogri language as subject in the newly upgrade schools, the Duggar Manch urged the Governor of J&K to intervene into the matter for dignity and honour of the mother tongue of Jammu people.
Since promotion of mother tongue is a Government policy, also endorsed by the court, there should be no hitch in introducing Dogri at school level, the spokesperson added and warned a mass agitation if the School Education Department does not take positive action on their demand.
