DSS expresses anguish over poor condition of Ranbir Canal, historical places

JAMMU, Mar 28: A meeting of working committee members and special invitees of Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) J&K was held here today wherein all the participants extended full support to Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, president DSS in struggle for promoting Dogri language along with its various dialects.
They also extended support for the revival and rejuvenation of Dogra culture and traditions, upgrading Jammu Doordarshan Kendra and starting of Duggar Satellite Channel.
The members demanded effective measures for protection of Dogra heritage including Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex and other historical forts, palaces, temples, ponds and iconic Ranbir Canal.
In this regard, Charak along with his team visited Raja Jambu Lochan Memorial and urged District Administration Jammu to give due focus to this heritage site and maintain it properly with the functioning of fountain in the park.
Later, Charak along with the team visited Balidan Stambh and paid rich tribute to the martyrs.
After this the DSS team visited Jammu’s first Power House near Canal Road and raised serious concern over deplorable condition of Ranbir Canal and the Power House built by Maharaja Partap Singh.
The participants expressed anguish over the poor state of the heritage canal and demanded it to be developed on the lines of Sabarmati river front in Gujarat.
Charak endorsed the demand of DSS and Doordarshan Approved Drama Artists Association for Duggar Satellite Channel.
He called upon all political parties to join for the cause of Jammu.
