JAMMU, June 22: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) has demanded removal of barricades from Civil Secretariat road here.
In a meeting of DSS, its president, Gulchain Singh Charak said, there is no such barricade in Srinagar though it has seen the worst law and order situation.
“All that is required is to shift the checkpoint 50 meters towards the main Civil Secretariat building as the barricade has cut the city in two halves restricting movement of school/college children, temple devotees, visitors at Maharaja Hari Singh Zanana Park and others,” he maintained.
Charak hailed the Lt Governor’s decision of making the civil secretariat functional at both winter and summer capitals of J&K UT.
He said that it is a victory of both major regions of J&K and thousands of people living in far flung villages of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kishtwar and Bani, who otherwise found it very difficult to visit Srinagar and stay there in disturbed conditions will now heave a sigh of relief.
“It will also benefit all the secretariat staffers who lived like nomads all their service life which also affected education of their children,” Charak further said.
Among those who attended the meeting were Col. Karan Singh, G.A Khwaja, Ajay Khajuria, Brig. M.S Jamwal, Col. Dr. Virendra K. Sahi, VrC, Col. J.P Singh, Samar Dev Singh Charak, Ghambir Dev Singh Charak, S. Kulbir Singh, S. Balwinder Singh Bhatia, Dr. Raghbir Singh, Amanat Ali Shah, Chhankar Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Janak Khajuria.
