JAMMU, Dec 5: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) delegation led by its President Gulchain Singh Charak met Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam.
The delegation apprised the Chief Secretary about the points submitted to the Governor by them earlier in the shape of a memorandum. The copy of the memorandum was also handed over to Chief Secretary.
While briefing, Gulchain Singh Charak emphasized on removal of barricade in front of winter secretariat and shifting it 50 meter towards the building, restoration work of the Mubarak Mandi Complex, portion of which has further collapsed last week, saving the archives, files and documents.
He also pointed out the apathy towards ex-serviceman and their long pending residential colonies, non-revision of annuity to brave warriors for a decade and restoration of Jammu Festival in its original form and its celebrations in each districts.
Other issues raised were, rampant drug menace and attending to needs of border areas, starting an exclusive Duggar Channel on DD Jammu where there is maximum cosmopolitan concentration.
Some additional points for urgent consideration were projected before the Chief Secretary, that included allocation of funds for the Academy of Art Culture and Languages is highly discriminatory.
“80 percent funds are given to Kashmir and only 20 percent shared between Jammu and Ladakh. Only Kashmiri and Urdu are spoken in Kashmir, whereas in addition to Kashmiri and Urdu, Hindi, Dogri Pahari, Gojri, Poonchi, Pahari, Kishtwari and Saraji are spoken in Jammu region. These all are spoken in maximum areas of the State including PoJK. No appointment has been made for the last seven years in the organization and vacancies have piled up to a hundred and needs to be filled up on priority”, Charak informed the Chief Secretary.
He added that Kala Kendra has become an uncared white elephant with no permanent staff to care and funds allocation to maintain it. “It was also pointed out that a 160 MVA transformer was sanctioned to meet the acute power shortage of Ramban and Banihal areas in addition to the insufficient 120 MVA transformer. This was though sanctioned and dispatched but diverted to Udhampur. This is unfair and must be reverted immediately”, he said.
The delegation included J&K State Director of the War Decorated India Colonel Dr Virendra K Sahi, Prof NK Dogra, Syed Amanat Ali Shah, Gambir Dev Singh, Janak Khajuria and Dr Vidhya Sagar Sharma.
