JAMMU,  Nov 22: A joint delegation of the Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) and the All Jammu Civil Society Forum (AJCSF) called upon the J&K State Assembly Speaker  Kavinder Gupta led by president DSS  Gulchain Singh Charak to project great hardship being faced by the local population, tourists, traders and daily commuters of Jammu region due to the unnecessary road block created by barriers in front of the winter secretariat here.
The delegation projected that a very important and vital road from Shalimar-to-Dogra Hall area is closed by the authorities which virtually divides the important segments of Jammu city and causes great hardships to the general public, tourists and daily commuters. Besides making it difficult and expensive to reach Ranvireshwar temple it causes uncalled for and unnecessary hardships to the population of the area around the secretariat and literally dissects the Holy city of temples.
They said the road in front of the Secretariat is the main artery road running through heart of city and needs widening from Indira Chowk to the Raj Bhawan. Once closed for six long months, all its traffic gets diverted to the crowded Parade Ground area resulting in persistent traffic jams, accidents and adding to pollution.
The road between Indira Chowk to the Raj Bhawan needs widening into a proper double lane. The entrance to the Sectt may be shifted toward the secure parking area. It blocks the route to famous  Ranvireshwar Shiv temple thus hurting the religious sentiments of the people. The route to  Raghunath Bazar and the famous Raghunath temple is also cut off, besides, the road leading to the SMGS Hospital, thus, adversely affecting pilgrimage, tourism, trade and Health care. Even the Dead bodies from this area are forced to be carried to Jogi Gate walking over a detour of three km by the bereaved families, mourners.
The Speaker gave patient hearing and considered each points projected by the members.
