JAMMU, July 11: Dogra Sahayata Kendra (DSK) Jammu has called for adoption of innovative measures like use of youth power by the UT administration as well as by civil society for spreading awareness about protection from the Corona pandemic.
In a statement issued here today, Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak (president, Dogra Sadar Sabha and chairman DSK Jammu) said that lack of awareness about the COVID-19 is one of the main concerns that is required to be addressed on top priority to prevent the onset of a third wave of the Pandemic.
He disclosed that the issue was deliberated upon in depth in a joint meeting of the Central Coordination Committee and district units of DSK, wherein members expressed serious concern about complacent behavior of the public at large in adhering to the SOPs in public areas.
Charak also said that there is need to streamline the carriage of vaccines in small containers at a freezing temperature which has a limited longevity. He stressed upon the need to organize camps in a well publicized manner so that the vaccines can be administered in such areas before their expiry.
He also reiterated the urgent need to equip the COVID care centers in all panchayats, especially in far flung areas, adequately with oxygen facilities and trained staff, on urgent basis so that precious lives of the people in these areas can be saved, if there is a third wave.
The DSK president appealed the Government to ensure proper facilities at the Primary Health Centers in rural areas, rationalize the distribution of oxygen plants and to shift the temporary COVID care centers from schools to Panchayat Ghars well before the opening of the schools.
