UDHAMPUR, May 26: In famous Sholey film style, a drunk man climbed a cell phone tower in Ramnagar town today and threatened to jump down and end life over family land dispute.
Reports said middle- aged Raj Kumar, son of Dhani Ram, a resident of Ward No. 8 Ramngar town, climbed a mobile phone tower, after allegedly drinking liquor and started threatening family members and locals of the area to jump down and commit suicide.
A large number of people of the locality gathered there. The family members also repeatedly requested him to come down. He was demanding that entire land should be transferred to his name. He was facing a revenue case in the court with his sister over land dispute. He was also threatening sister to withdraw case and transfer land on his name.
This drama continued for about two hours. The people of the area then reported the matter to local Police Station. Then SHO Ramnagar, Jasbinder Singh along with police team and a Naib Tehsildar rushed to the spot. They started convincing Raj Kumar to come down. The negotiations continued for long. Even his family members also pleaded and asked him to come down.
Amidst long drama, on the persuasion of police, he came down. The police registered a case against him and started investigation.
