Drugs supplying trucker arrested with poppy straw

JAMMU, July 2: Chatha police under “Operation Sanjeevani” arrested a drugs supplying trucker along with 2.5 kilograms poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Chatha police post laid a naka at Raipur Chowk and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02AB-9167 coming from Belicharana towards Raipur Satwari to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops intercepted the vehicle after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 2.5 kilograms poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the trucker, who has been identified as Gurcharan Singh, son of Swaroop Singh, a resident of Raipur Satwari.
A case under FIR Number 137/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at police station Satwari and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by Incharge Chatha police post SI Sandeep Charak made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh, SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
