The seized asset includes a double-storey residential house at Sadiqabad (Doda) identified as being purchased from the proceeds of narcotics trade. The action was carried out by SHO Doda, Inspector Parvez Khandey and DySP Headquarters Doda, Ajay Anand, in the presence of the Executive Magistrate First Class under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The proceedings are linked to an FIR registered at Police Station Doda against Shakeela Begum alias Taya, wife of Farooq Ahmed, a resident of Sadiqabad. She was arrested in the same case as the main drug supplier and is currently lodged in Bhaderwah Jail. Police said the accused has been involved in four separate FIRs related to narcotics trafficking.
Terming the action part of a wider strategy, Senior Superintendent of Police Doda, Sandeep Mehta said the police are determined to strike at the roots of drug trafficking by targeting both offenders and their illegally acquired wealth.
