Drug peddlers nabbed in Kulgam, Shopian

Srinagar, Aug 4: Police today said to have arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam & Shopian and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Kulgam, a police party of Police Station Behibagh during patrolling near Noonnai Turigam crossing intercepted a person in a suspicious condition who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by an alert Police party.
“He has been identified as Mohammad Altaf Mantoo son of Abdul Gani Mantoo resident of Matibugh Yaripora. During checking, officers were able to recover 10Kgs of Poppy Straw from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Similarly in Shopian, Police have arrested one drug peddler identified as Mudasir Ahmad Koka resident of Shallpora Melhoora Wachi and recovered contraband substances from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered in respective Police Stations and further investigations have been initiated.
