JAMMU, Feb 19: Narwal and Digiana police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ nabbed drug peddlers along with contraband.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Narwal police post laid a surprised naka and intercepted a pedestrian.
During checking, police recovered 2 kilograms ganja from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him on the spot.
The accused, who is notorious drug peddler, has been identified as Lokesh Patel, son of Vishwanath, a resident of Chattisgarh.
A case under FIR Number 38/17 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at police station Trikuta Nagar and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Narwal police post SI Wasim Mehraj made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Trikuta Nagar Inspector Bharat Sharma, SDPO East Arun Jamwal and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
Meanwhile, Digiana police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a drug peddler and recovered heroin from his possession.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Digiana police post laid a naka near cremation ground at Shastri Nagar and signaled a scooty bearing registration number JK02BF-8685 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the rider accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops intercepted the scooty near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 7 grams heroin from the possession of the rider and arrested him on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Vyom Sharma, son of late Suresh Kumar Sharma, a resident of Rani Talab Digiana.
A case under FIR Number 25/17 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Digiana police post SI Pawan Dogra made the arrest under the supervision SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Bishnesh Kumar, SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
