Drug peddlers arrested with 95 kg poppy straw

RAMBAN, Mar 9: Banihal police arrested two drug peddlers along with 95 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, a team from Banihal police station laid a naka near Old Toll Post on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted a Haryana based Wagon-R car bearing registration number HR26AX-5667.
During checking, police recovered 95 kilograms poppy straw concealed in five plastic bags from the car and arrested the driver and his associate.
The accused have been identified as Bagwan Singh, son of Hakam Singh and Baga Singh, son of Pan Singh, both residents of Fatayabad, Haryana.
They were trying to smuggle the consignment of narcotics from Kashmir to Haryana, but their bid was foiled by the police.
A case under FIR Number 24/16 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Banihal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Nazir Ahmed Dar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
