Srinagar, Aug 1: Police today said to have arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A Police party headed by SHO PS Devsar under the supervision of DySP PC Kulgam Azhar Rashid established a checkpoint near Chamgund crossing and intercepted a person riding a motorcycle bearing registration No. PB08CA-2340.
“He has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar a resident of Malwan. During checking, officers were able to recover 20kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in 02 gunny bags from his possession,” police said.
Police said that he has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody. “Motorcycle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized,” police said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.48/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police station Devsar and investigation has been taken up.
