Drug peddler held with contraband, sharp edged weapons

JAMMU, Apr 18: Akhnoor Police today arrested a drug peddler with contraband and 4 sharp edged weapons.
“A team of Police Station Akhnoor along with Naib Tehsildar Bhalwal Brahmna established a special naka at Hanuman Chowk Akhnoor for vehicle checking and stopped a vehicle bearing registration number JK02DA-8897 which was on its way from Jammu towards Poonch,” a police spokesman said.
He said during search, 940 grams of Poppy straw and 4 ‘tokkas’ (sharp edged weapons) were recovered from the vehicle. “The driver of the vehicle namely Javid Iqbal son of Khadim Hussain, resident of village Karmara (tehsil Haveli, district Poonch) was arrested on the spot and his vehicle seized.
“In this regard, a case FIR Number 65/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act 4/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further Investigation started,” the spokesman added.
