JAMMU, Aug 8: Gujjar Nagar police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a drug peddler and recovered 18 kilograms of poppy straw from his possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gujjar Nagar Police Post laid a naka near Sher-e-Kashmir bridge and intercepted an Eon car bearing registration number JK18-9830.
During checking, police recovered 18 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Shakeel Ahmed Mir, son of Bashir Ahmed Mir, a resident of Daniv Kandimarg District Kulgam.
A case under FIR Number 47/18 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Peer Mitha and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by Incharge Gujjar Nagar Police Post SI Parvaiz Ahmed khanday made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Peer Mitha Inspector Sajad Mir, SDPO City Varun Jandial, Incharge SP City Girdhari Lal Sharma and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
