Drug peddler arrested with 3 kgs of poppy straw

SAMBA, Apr 14: : District Police Samba has arrested one drug peddler with thirty kilograms of Poppy straw recovered from his Possession at Tapyal under the Jurisdiction of Police station Ghagwa in District Samba today.
Police said that, as per information, a team of District Special Branch Samba laid special Nakka on Jammu Pathnakot National Highway near Tapyal undr the jurisdiction of Ghagwal Police Station in District Samba and intercepted a tanker bearing registration No PB07P- 5053 which was in the way from Jammu towards Kathua.
During the checking of vehicle police recovered 30 Kg poppy straw from the chamber of the tanker and also arrested the driver of the tanker namely, Santokh Singh, Son of Gurdyal Singh resident of Kharodi Pind, Garh Shanker district Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Later the District Special Branch handedover the tanker, driver and also seized contraband items to Ghagwal Police.
The whole operation was conducted under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Dr Kousal Shrama, ASP Samba, Faisal Qureshi under the direct supervision of DSP, Headquarter Samba Deepak Digra.
In this regard case FIR No. 38/2019 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
