Drug peddler arrested with 35 kg poppy straw

JAMMU, July 5: Bakshi Nagar police arrested a drug peddler along with 35 kilograms poppy straw under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Bakshi Nagar police station laid a naka near Pawan Ice Bridge and signaled a car bearing registration number JK02J-6672.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka.
During checking, police recovered 35 kilograms poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the accused.
The accused has been identified as Sheetal Singh, son of Joginder Singh, a resident of Gurha Bakshi Nagar.
A case under FIR Number 118/16 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Bakshi Nagar police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Bakshi Nagar Inspector Ashwani Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Nikhil Rasgotra and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
