Drug peddler arrested

JAMMU, Jan 22: Janipur police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a drug peddler and recovered cannabis from his possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Janipur Police Station laid a naka and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrian ran away from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the pedestrian after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 2.20 kilograms of cannabis from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Nisar Ahmed derod, son of Bashir Ahmed, a resident of district Anantnag.
A case under FIR Number 10/18 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Janipur and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Janipur SI Bimal Indu made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Jammu Raj Paul Singh, SP City Dr Vinod Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
