UDHAMPUR, Sept 18: Udhampur Police today arrested a drug peddler and seized 21.5 kg poppy straw.
The consignment was being smuggled in a truck, which was intercepted by a Police party at naka point Jakhani on the National Highway Udhampur.
According to the reports, a team of the police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Chaman Gorka, under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, DySP Hqrs. Udhampur, intercepted one truck bearing registration number PB06M-2677. During search, 21.5 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the truck.
The accused driver namely Rakesh Kumar son of Jagir Chand of Kapoorthala Punjab was arrested on the spot and vehicle was also seized.
A case FIR number 356/2021, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
