Drug Control Org, CTD seize intoxicants worth Rs 1.75 lakh

KATHUA, June 10: Drugs and Food Control Organization along with Commercial Tax Department seized big consignment of intoxicants from a truck.
An official spokesman said that, on specific inputs, the sleuths of Drugs and Food Control Organization along with Commercial Tax Department intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK13B-5420.
During checking, large quantity of intoxicants worth Rs 1.75 lakh was found in the vehicle which was seized on Form 16 under the Provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules. The driver of the truck managed to escape from the spot.
The presence of the vehicle owner namely Manzoor Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Ahmad Mir of Pampora was caused and all the legal procedure was carried out in his presence.
Drug Inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad has initiated detailed investigation under relevant provisions of the Act and Rules and the particulars of the parties/persons responsible for supplying these intoxicating drugs are likely to surface in due course of time.
As mandated under Law the Competent Court of Law has been informed about the incident. The Assistant Drugs Controller, Samba-Kathua, Munish Gupta is personally monitoring the progress of the investigation.
Deputy Controller, Drugs and Food Control Organization, Jammu, Lotika Khajuria has warned the nefarious elements involved in drug mafia to desist from such acts failing which be ready for harsh regulatory action.
