Driver killed as truck rolls down

RAMBAN, Aug 5: A driver was killed, when the truck he was driving rolled down into gorge after hitting a car near Nachlana area on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number DL1LP-9673 was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar, when it collided with a car bearing registration number JK08E-7087 coming from opposite direction and later the truck plunged into 150 feet deep gorge near Nachlana, resulting into on the spot death of the truck driver, who could not control the vehicle after hitting the car.
In the incident, car driver namely Ranjeet Singh, son of Desh Raj of Hiranagar, district Kathua escaped unhurt.
Eye witnesses said that the truck driver tried his best to save the car occupant and unfortunately lost his own life
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot, retrieved the dead body of the driver from the nallah and shifted it to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Banihal, where after completing legal formalities, the body will be handed over to family members for last rites.
The deceased has been identified as Iqbal Ahmed, son of Ghulam Hassan of New Delhi.
A case under FIR Number 119/17 under Sections 279 and 304-A has been registered at Banihal police station and investigation started.
