Driver held with 302 kg poppy straw

UDHAMPUR, Nov 16: The Police achieved a major success by recovering 302 kg of poppy straw at Zero Point, Chenani, on National Highway under the jurisdiction of Police Station, Chenani today.
Official sources said that a Police team from Police Station, Chenani headed by SHO, Inspector Om Parkash under the supervision of Anwar-Ul-Haq, Addl SP Udhampur and SDPO Chenani, Ahmed Shaafi while conducting routine vehicle checking at Zero Morh Chenani, National Highway intercepted a truck bearing registration No. PB10CV-1307 which was coming from Kashmir valley towards Udhampur.
During checking of the said vehicle, Police recovered 302 kg of poppy straw and arrested one smuggler along with consignment. The arrested driver disclosed his identity as Jagdeep Singh, son of Baldev Singh of Koabet, Ludhiana, Punjab.
In this connection, a case FIR No.190/2022 under sections 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation of the case has been taken up.
