Srinagar, Apr 25: The driver of a bus ferrying polling staff was electrocuted while the conductor was seriously wounded when a high-tension electric wire fell on the vehicle in this South Kashmir township on Thursday.
A police spokesman said 55- year old Mohammad Ismail Bhat son of Abdul Rehman of Raithan village of Budgam district, was electrocuted to death at Amlar in Tral while Manzoor Ahmad Wani, also a resident of Raithan was critically injured in the mishap, sources told Kashmir reader.
The duo had parked the bus (JK01-0643) outside polling booth No. 70 A at Amlar Tral when a high-tension wire snapped from a pole and on the vehicle. Bhat, a father of five daughters, succumbed to his injuries on way to a hospital.
